Do you appreciate the presence of evil in the world for its ability to illuminate what virtue is?

Appreciation for the presence of evil is a tough question. My look on this is kinda weird. I see evil dark. How are we to appreciate the light without the dark. How would we know what is good unless, we have had bad. Our good and beautiful rainbows comes after the storms. Do you see what I mean?
