How is mixing up religions dangerous to internal security of a country?

If you select the right species of fish they will do just fine. Sometimes religious differences do not cause significant problems; I live in the United States where most (certainly not all) people are OK with people of different religions. I'm not saying India should mimic the United States, because we have very different cultures. But the United States isn't special; any country can reduce religious conflict.
